Most homeowners don't think about their water heater until something goes wrong. It starts making a rumbling noise. The hot water runs out faster than it used to. Or it just stops working one day. By that point, the unit has usually been running on borrowed time for a while.

We swapped out an older unit and dropped in a new Rheem Classic Plus Series power vent water heater. This is a professional-grade unit - not the kind you grab off a shelf at a big box store. The power vent design uses a blower to push exhaust gases out through PVC pipe, which gives a lot more flexibility in where it can be installed and how it vents. That matters in tighter utility spaces like this one.

We also installed an expansion tank on the cold water side. A lot of plumbers skip this step, but it's there to protect the system from pressure buildup - especially in homes with a closed plumbing system. It's a small addition that can save you from a bigger headache down the road.

Everything was seated on a proper raised platform, with a clean copper water line connection and a yellow flexible gas line running to the unit. The Sheldon Plumbing tag goes on every install we do. It means we stand behind the work.

If your water heater is pushing 10 years or older, or if you're noticing any of those early warning signs, it's worth having someone take a look before it becomes an emergency. We're here when you're ready.
