That old valve had seen better days. Corroded, stiff, and nearly impossible to operate quickly - the kind of thing you don't think about until you have a plumbing emergency and need to shut the water off fast. That's exactly the problem we set out to fix here.
We pulled the old valve out and replaced it with a new brass ball valve on the copper water line. Ball valves are the standard for a reason. They give you a full shutoff with a simple quarter-turn, they hold up for years, and they don't leave you guessing whether the water is actually off. Clean, reliable, and simple.
We also added a yard box right over the top of it. That green lid sitting flush with the ground means the valve is protected and easy to locate. No more digging around in the dirt during a stressful situation. If there's ever a leak or a plumbing emergency, that shutoff is right there - accessible in seconds.
It's the kind of upgrade that's easy to overlook until you need it. A failing or inaccessible shutoff valve can turn a minor plumbing issue into a much bigger, more expensive one. Our leak detection work often uncovers situations exactly like this, where outdated hardware makes a manageable problem worse than it has to be. Getting ahead of it is always the smarter move.
